I am the only user of my computer but my user account is
a "Limited" account and there appears to be no other
account on the computer. There is no Administrator User
Account and therefore I cannot make any changes to my
computer. Can anyone help with a suggestion.
Thanks,
Elmotx

Reboot, tapping F8 each second.
Choose "Safe Mode" at the menu.
Select Administrator.
Then go to User Accounts in Control Panel
Select yourself, click "Change Account Type"
Change to Administrator.,
Or better yet, leave yourself as a Limited User.
Create another account with Administrator access, password BOTH
administrators.
Take precautions to not lose/forget the passwords.
The reason is you should not use an Administrator for routine use.
Leave the Administrator for Administrator functions.

Jupiter,
Thanks for the attempt, but there is no Administrator
account, and when I went to Safe Mode as you suggested it
starts up with a user account but that account does not
have administrato account privileges and there is no
other account listed. Any other ideas?

If there is no Administrator even in Safe Mode, try a Repair
Installation:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/tips/xp_repair_install.htm
Windows Updates will need to be reinstalled.
Data should be safe, back-up important data just in case.

This sounds similar to a problem I had. When I first installed XPpro I
seem to remember the program telling me I could set an Administrator
password later. I couldn't figure out how to do it later. A repair
installation led to my having to completely (new) install. But I have read
several times that there is a built-in administrator account which CANNOT be
deleted.
To double check for an Administrator account go to Control
Panel\Administrative Tools\Computer Management. In the Computer Management
window expand Local Users and Groups in the left 'tree' window. Click on
Users. The right details window should show all accounts on the computer
and one of them should be Administrator, built in account. If it is there
click on it, click Action in the menu bar and select Set Password. REMEMBER
PASSWORD.
You should also find the account you are using and a Guest account.
I would have to think about it to remember how to get these other accounts
to show in the log-on screen. You should also see a Help Assistant and
Support accounts: don't worry about them at this point.
