Hi,

We have small network with several XP Pro workstations, my problem is some
of the network printers auto install in these workstations and if I try to
delete them, I get an error message and the "printer ad fax" windows shuts
down. Has anybody else experienced this same problem?

Thanks,
Marco

Don't know what the problem is, this is by design!
Of course, on the computer that is connected to the prinbter, you could
disable sharing, but then no other machine could use it anymore... What
is is that you want?

Deleting it on a client once will not help, it may automatically show up
next time, or a user may find it using "Add printer" You really need a
server O/S with Active Directory to limit access to shared printers.

Some networked printers require drivers to be installed on the local
machine as well as on the machine the printer is connected to. Check with
tech support for the printer to find out what does or does not need to be
installed for the specific printers involved.

Andre,

if the auto-install is by design, I can live with that. My problem is if I
click on any of the auto-install printers I get an error message and the
"printers and faxes" window shuts down and the workstation freezes a few
seconds. It won't let me see or change properties.
