I just upgraded to windows xp home edition and now every
time i go into outlook express, compose a message and hit
send, i get an error message saying something like, spell
check was halted do i still want to send, and even if i
go into tools and click on spell check i get an error
message, consequently i don't have spell check operating.
any ideas?

Try the following:
Do a system search for "CSAPI3T1.dll" without the quotes and copy to Outlook
express folder. You can also get it off your Office or Word cd if you don't
find it on your computer.

To avoid the error, go into Tools> Options and disable spell check on send.

Outlook Express can perform spellchecking IF there proofing tools installed
(belonging to other applications) that it can borrow. MS Word and other
Office programs for example. If you have MS Office products installed and
still cannot get spellcheck to work in Outlook Express, see the following
