I am trying to upgrade to windows xp from 98 but I kept
getting a fatal error code(63eff58h) can any one help me

Did you try the hardware wizard first to see if any of your hardware might
not be compatible with WindowsXP?

While at the Windows 98 desktop, place the XP CD in the drive, when the
setup screen appears, choose "Check System Compatibility." This should give
a report on problem hardware and software that needs to be updated and/or
removed before the upgrade can proceed. Note, do not overlook anything as
being small or inconsquential as that is likely the smallest of items can be
the one to stop setup.
