Hi--Please, I need help. Been doing lot of
troubleshooting past couple of months---installed and
uninstalled several programs--added new color printer
(cheap one). Suddenly today I'm getting msg--Windows
Product Activation--Since windows was first activated on
this computer the hardware on the computer has changed
significantly. Due to these changes windows must be
reactivated within 3 days. Do you want to reactivate now?
Please, what gives, why this msg?? Thanks for any help I
can get. ednamc

Pretty self explanatory. You changed hardware, windows thinks it may be =
on a different computer. You have to reactivate.

To David Candy----thanks so much for your quick reply---I
kind of thought as much, but if they keep track of
everyone who installs or reinstalls hardware they're a
busy bunch!! :-) Thanks again, David--I will reactivate.

Microsoft doesn't keep track, the system does. And when it sees that enough
hardware has been changed to become "suspicious" (for lack of a better
term), it will just ask you to reactivate.
