i had some files that were encrypted with the xp file encryption option on
the files properies box. however my hard drive failed and i had to reload
the OS on a new drive.

the encrypted files were on my data hard drive so were not wiped but i can't
access them under the new os. i keep getting file access errors.

i've tried converting the drive to FAT to remove the security tags from NTFS
but it won't allow me to do that.

is there a decrypter prog available?

thx for any help

prize27,

You probably need to take ownership of the files. See "Help & Support" for
details; use the keyword "Ownership" in the search feature dialog box.
