A few days ago I purchased a new Presario with WinXP. I
keep getting the message:
"NT Authority Remote Prodcedural Call (RPC) service
terminated unexpectedly. NT Authority\System shutdown
initiated by NT Authority\System Host Process for Win 32
Services has encountered a problem and needs to be
closed..... "
and then it gives me about 50 seconds to close everything,
and shuts down my computer.
I ran a virus check, but no viruses were detected, but the
system keeps shutting down and restarting. How can I
correct this? This machine has never worked correctly
since I bought it.

A new worm hit this Monday, you probably have the msblaster
worm. If your anti-virus scanner was not updated Tuesday or
Wednesday it would not detect the worm.
www.sarc.com has removal tool and instructions.

See www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm, Line 257, Remote Procedure Call
Worm for a small utilty that will remove the variants of the
W32.Blaster.Worm and take you (optionally) to Microsoft's site for the patch
that prevents this infection.
