i need to know whether my winxp home edition is 32 bit or
64 bit so that i can download the patch.

You have the 32 bit.
If you had the 64 you would know it because you would have had to custom
order it
and pay well over $3000 for it.

Home is only a 32-bit version.

Click Start -> Run..
winver

If you see the text "64-bit" anyway there, then and only then, do you have a
64 bit processor

I suggest downloading the 32 bit patch. If you do have windows xp 64 bit
(most unlikely for a home user) then it will appear with an error saying you
have the wrong version.
