Many program files suddenly vanished

Can anyone please help me? Several programs that was on a
partition on my 2 hard drive raid array, have just
vanished they were not uninstalled, nor deleted by me and
some of the icons for the vanished programs have defaulted
to the unknown application icon.(proably because the whole
program file and folders have gone)
I have not been infected with a virus, (I did a full scan)
nor do I think that I have been hacked(xp firewall enabled
and no file sharing is enabled, and i get an all ports are
stealthed report from port scanning tests) I am really
baffled by this how can this happen?

P4 3gh cpu @3325MHz
gigabyte sinxp1394 mobo
2x maxtor ide 133 HD in a raid 0 config ITE raid controller
ATI 9700 pro gfx card
1gig samsung memory
enermax 550 psu
dvd drive
52x cd-r/cd-rw

I'm not one of the experts here. If you've used Restore, were these
programs installed after the Restore point?
