Hi.
Wonderfull posts and solution for the RPC issue.
Got hit by the Worm, and already solved, using the Symantec Fix and
Microsoft Patch. Also turned FireWall on.
Now I don't have MSBlast registry entries nor MSBlast files.
Thanks to all (I never saw so much activity on the NewsGroup!).
Now, last question:
Symantec tells me to:
"Turn off and remove unneeded services.
By default, many operating systems install auxiliary services that are not
critical, such as an FTP server, telnet, and a Web server.
These services are avenues of attack.
If they are removed, blended threats have less avenues of attack and you
have fewer services to maintain through patch updates."
Question: How can I know if these ports and services are open or close? How
do I close them?
Thanks again;
Sami
