Hi all,
I'm trying to find a tool that stops popups from halting my system all
the time.
The weird part is that I found a browser other than IE that I use as the
default browser... well, I'm getting
to the weird part. It's called Avant Browser and clearly has a core that is
based on IE but has a slightly
different interface, including tabbed windows along the bottom which avoids
opening a new copy of the
browser for each new window that gets opened. Now, that is the default
browser. If I select a link in
Outlook Express it will open in the Avant Browser (which I found on
webattack.com btw). However,
some other apps will trigger a popup and the popup is a IE window and then
the next popup will soon
follow from said app, opening an entire new version of IE in memory. Each
time a popup gets triggered
things halt for a while. I'll be doing something and have to wait till the
popup appears and then releases the
system - makes available other system resources. What's annoying is one
being unable to stop those popups!!!
and two, the fact that everything gets so bogged down, halting, not slowing
down performance but halting it each
time an app triggers a popup. Most popup blockers go right into the browser
but I need one that
stops popups triggered by other apps. and something to recover system
resources or keep things moving instead of
letting things just halt and having 12 or more IE windows open in a short
time when I'm not watching things.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Bruce
