View Full Version : XP Pro and Start in Directory

When I click OPEN to open a file in Word, Excel, Access,
Crystal 9.0 or any other program, the Open Window that
results shows the LAST directory I was in instead of the
default directory as setup in that program. For instance,
if I open a file using Excel in C:\Excel Files, then start
Crystal 9.0 and click Open, the window will start in
C:\Excel Files and not in the directory setup in Crystal
Options.
How do I get XP to return control to the initiating
program?

Go into the properties of the shortcut that you use to launch the Crystal 9
application. In the text box labelled "Start in:" that is located on the
"Shortcut" page, enter the path to the same folder that you have designated
in the Crystal Options.

Sharon F...as I mentioned, I have the correct directories
designated in each program (Excel, Word, Crystal, etc.)
and XP still starts them in the last directory used. In
addition to having the correct directory set by the
application, each program icon has the correct 'Start In'
and it matters not. It happens with ALL programs that
have an OPEN file feature, not just Crystal.
Thanks in advance for any other assistance you can provide.
