A simple search of my computer for DirectX found a folder in
\Windows\System32 labeled DirectX, with a subfolder full of all sorts of
wonderful goodies.
That's one thing of two.
I believe (do NOT know) that those may well be the uninstall files for
the XP updates; if so, and you remove these files, you'll never be able
to remove the updates, which sometimes needs to be done.
That's 1.375 things....

Start/Run type dxdiag and you'll get all sorts of DX info.
