Can somebody please reply. I don't know if the patch was
downloaded by automatic update and if not do I need to
download it myself.

Easy way to find out: Run Windows Update. If it presents no security patches
for download, you have the patch. But you also need to have antivirus
software running. A firewall, such as XP's own Internet Connection Firewall,
is also an excellent idea.

Hi Ida,
If the patch is installed it will be in the Add/Remove programs list as a
hotfix with the number 823980.
