Please tell me this is something simple.

I've been trying to put WinXP Pro on an older (2000) computer for a
while. Well I've finally got the boot disk and it was beginning to
work. It said I needed to partition the drive. I finally got an A
prompt and when I tried to enter fdisk the keyboard didn't work.

Earlier I went to the BIOS to adjust the boot sequence and the
keyboard was able to manuever around the screen.

This may be the only thing holding me up from getting the OS on this
machine. My third day working on it. I've had to switch hard drives
and floppy drives and configure and reconfigure. It's been fun but
now I'm ready to stick a fork in it.

Thank you.

If the keyboard is USB, you may need to enable USB Keyboard support from the
BIOS. Have you tried pluging the hard drive of this old computer into
another machine and installing XP that way? Then you can return the hard
drive to the old machine and you should be fine... XP should recognize the
keyboard.

Best of luck,
Frankie

Hey Frankie,
It is a USB keyboard. I haven't seen anything like USB Keyboard
support anywhere. I did install the hard drive in my newer machine and
installed XP but it wouldn't boot from the CD even though I changed
the boot sequence. Someone said that the MOBOs being different may had
something to do with it. A few minutes ago I found another keyboard
under some stuff and it has the older type connector. I've had it for
today so I'll get started in the morning.

Thanks for your suggestions and time.
