support the system has haulted. Have to turn power off
then back on to get computer to start. Does the same
thing with any video playback. Have installed the latest
drivers for video card and sound card. Also have
installed service pack 1a. Still no go. Everything works
fine under 98. Specks p3 850, gforce 256 32mb, sound

Start with the following: be sure your games are XP compatible, check their
web sites.

Also, while at the XP desktop, place the XP CD in the drive, when the setup
screen appears, select "Check System Compatibility." It may find hardware
or software issues that might be the source of the problem.

It's still a good idea to check compatibility. System configurations vary
and his system may have a greater tolerance.

Something else to check is Event Viewer. Open Control Panel, open
Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer and look for errors that correspond
to when you have an issue with a game. Double click the error. Then
information contained within may give a clue as to the source of the issue.

This looks really suspicious, I think you have the worm that's been going
around.
For a quick, small removal tool for W32.Blaster.Worm, see
