Day on system Tray

The Day has suddenly started showing under the Clock -
I've unlocked theTaskbar and pushed it down but it only
goes right down

How do I get rid of the Day?

How to fix depends on what changed to make the day appear. If you have Quick
Launch on your taskbar, using the Large Icons setting can cause the taskbar
to "get fat." To change this, right click within the boundaries of the
toolbar and select View> Small Icons.

Resetting your theme in Display Properties so that it is using default
settings for the size of the various windows components is another thing you
could try. Particularly, Icon Spacing- Vertical when set too high can cause
the taskbar to enlarge to the point that the day is showing.
