Confusion over 823980 - am I covered?

I have run the updates check at support.micrsoft.com and
it finds no critical updates. Reading the articles
suggests the fix is 823980, but this is not installed on
my PC.

Am i covered since the updates check passed with no
critical patches? What does 823980 refer to and do I need
to install this as this is the number that is included in
the download for the worm fix.

I am confused so any clarification is welcome

Go to Windows Update. (If you're unsure how to find it, look up Windows
Update in Help and Support.)
Windows Update scans your system and tells you if there are any security
updates you need to install. Install them.
