I just got a new Presario with XP on it, and in the
Add/Remove Programs section there are a bunch of hotfixes
listed. Where'd they come from, why are they there, and
do I need to keep them? I tried to find out about them
on the XP support website and it kept telling me to post
the question to a newsgroup. Can anyone help me? Thank
you. Linda Crawford

Hotfixes" are the updates you installed from the Windows Update
website. Do not be tempted to remove them or you will uninstall
the actual updates.
If you wish to safely remove the "uninstall files" for the
Hotfixes (i.e. $NtUninstallQxxxxxx$ files shown in Windows Explorer)=20
and cleanup your Add/Remove Programs list, visit MS-MVP Doug Knox's=20
excellent website for instructions.
Note: Doug's program only removes the uninstall files and Hotfix =
entries
in the Add/Remove Programs listing. It does not remove the=20
actual updates.
Remove Hotfix Backup files and the Add/Remove Programs Registry entries
