I need help with these damn pop ups. I cant work or enjoy
the enternet without being harrassed buy them.
At one time I was a proud Microsoft fan. I dont know
anymore. I feel like im getting a crappy product with
nothing but issues and problems.
Oh let me guess---Im probably going to pay for your
services too!!?

You can pay me if you want, I'd be happy to take your money. However, it
isn't necessary...I'd also like to point out that the messenger spam is the
least of your worries; in fact, it's a valuable wake-up call that you have
an unprotected computer. Did you apply the MS03-026 update for the RPC
buffer overflow exploit? And all other critical patches from Windows Update?

You need a firewall. 'Messenger spam', is not in itself harmful,
but is symptomatic of a larger problem - your computer has ports open from
the Internet.

You can disable the Messenger service, but that is unwise as a solution as
you'll still have the underlying problem that caused you to get the messages
in the first place - consider the messages a useful warning that you have no
protection from the Internet. You need a firewall. 'Messenger spam', is not

For a standalone machine, see www.sygate.com for a free personal firewall. I
like this better than the built-in XP firewall, but if you wish, you can

If you are talking about browser popups, try the new google toolbar - it's
free, and besides blocking popups, it also is just very useful.
