blaster worm

Hi

one of my PC's which runs windows XP, has contracted the
blaster worm virus, I have the correct patches and the
fix, but everytime the PC boots it goes into protection
mode and i'm unable to do anything with it. Is there a way
of getting it out of protection mode to enable me to
install the fixes and patch?
