to recover system in case of mishapas backup the system
follow the steps
1) start > run > type ntbackup.exe
2) wizard runs click on advanced mode.
3)in the first tab of backup select automated system
recovery.
4) as you said that you have access to cd-drive or want to
take backup on cd-rw media
point to cd-rw media for ex: e:\mydata.bkf (.bkf backup
file) ms default extension.
5) wizard runs take a back up of you hdd.
6) after backup is taken it ask for a blank floppy to
store the asr information.
7) finished..
8) to recover windows xp in case of disaster
9) re run windows xp setup in dos-mode and the select
or press F2 during setup.
