exporting digital id

I'm using Windows XP home edition and I have a digital id
that is installed through internet explorer, however, ie
won't allow me to export the certfifcate with the private
key (the option is greyed out). Teh only thing I have
found online is that it might be due to a hotfix in an xp
update.

Any help out there?

This is by design, because the private key for your digital "id" certificate
is not exportable.
You can export only the certificate, but not the private key.
