The setting: An older custom built 233Mhz running Windows
98. A new HP 250n running XP home.
The desire: Transfer of contents on the old hard drive to
the new.
The problem: After removing the old drive and installing
it as a slave in the new computer I tried to open Word
documents. The dialog box stated that the computer could
not open the file and could not find the program to do
so. They are Word documents and Word perfect is on the
new computer.
The old drive and its contents show up when exploring but
that is all.
A co-worker mentioned a cable and peer-to-peer sharing
using hyperterminal. The store also mentioned a cable.
Will installing Word on the new computer solve my document
problems? What about the other programs?
