I received an email (forward/forward) that instructed me
to search for a virus inadvertantly sent. Through the
file search function, I found the supposed little
critter, whose name is jdbgmgr.exe and when I looked at
the properties, it's identified as a Microsoft debugger
registration for Java, created 05/03/03. I am confused.
It has the look of legitimacy, but the smell of a rat.
Has anyone heard of this and disposing of it the
appropriate course. I currently have the jdbgmgr.exe in
my recycle bin. Your advise is appreciated.

Put it back where you found the file Robert and don't beleive
everything, heck any warnings you get in the email unless you subscribed
to a service like the one MS provides

That is a real file used for debugging java, if you've emptied your
recycle bin don't worry about it you're not likely to need it.

2 files?? There should only be one of them. Where did you get/find the
second from?

The advice you have been given is only partially correct, for there _is_
a way to get an infected version of this file

See http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/articles/jdbgmgr.html for an example
of the details.
