windows updates

every time i try to get my critical updates it gives me
an error. and it will not update.
not sure what the prob is.

Windows Update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested
page

That's all there is. No error code. I have changed the CSDVersion registry
value to 0 as per the instructions but it still doesn't work. This is
happening on two separate machines.

Any other ideas?
