I am trying to perform my windows updates. I run on Win
XP Professional. My system was set up to auto-inform me
of windows systems and critical updates. my last update
was July 20, 2003. Since then,I have not been notified
that there were any updates available. I am using Norton
anti virus protection 2003. When the Blaster worm hit I
checked my comp and did not find the virus. Now, my
Norton virus definitions will update automatically and
has been updating since July 20th. In fact the message
just popped up today saying my virus definitions have
been updated, but my windows updates won't auto-update.
I tried to install the windows updates manually from the
website but when i click the install button and accept, I
get an error message saying that the update was not
installed. I am at a loss for what the problem might
be. I am listed as an administrator on the computer. Is
there some file that I might have accidently deleted that
is preventing me from installing the updates? Is there
another program to check for other recent viruses that
might affect the windows system updates? Has anyone else
had this problem?
