windows update?????

i recently did an update for from the windows update.
there were 37 updates including sp1 (which i downloaded
seperatly) out of the remaining 36 24 could not be
installed. my question is why. i am running xp home and
there are some updates that are for xp. tried three times
to install but same results (failed to install)could some
clarify as to why i cannot install these. thank-you

Could ya give the names of a few that would not install? Were they critical
updates or in the "recommended" list?

win xp (815021), Q324096:security update xp, etc.. there
are total of 19 security updates including the above and 3
crital updates. thanks
