After installing patches

I have windows XP home and after updates and patches I can
not open any attachments ,yet my security is still at the
same level as before .Not even excel files attached can be
viewed .This makes my e-mail almost useless .Please help
with advice.Thanks

Chris --

1. Start Outlook Express.=20
2. On the Tools menu, click Options.=20
3. Click the Security tab, click to clear the "Do not allow =
attachments to be=20
saved or opened that could potentially be a virus" check box =
under=20
Virus Protection, and then click OK.
