Does Win XP (home) leave cd's in 'open' or 'closed' format
by default, when burning to CD-RW's? And if closed, how
can you set it open? Anyone? Thanks.

I may be wrong, but I suspect that if you want anything but defaults you
will have to obtain third-party software.

Hi,

What you are thinking of is the UDF file system. WinXP does not use this
type of burning software, its engine uses the ISO file system. Read up on
what you can and can't do with it here:

Frankly, if you want any control over your burning software, you need to
install a third party application (Nero, Roxio, etc.) and disable the native
burning engine.
