How to upgrade Toshiba Laptop

How do I upgrade (transfer) my 6 Gig. H-disk to a 20 Gig,
and keep my settings?

You can get an external hard drive enclosure (USB or
Firewire) and put the old drive in that. Install the new
drive, install your OS, presume it is W XP, then transfer
the data files. I would reinstall my applications so I had
a "clean" install.
