slow domain logon fo XP

I have a Windows2000 domain with 98se and XP pro
machines. The win98se machines logon to the domain ok.
The xp machines take upto 5 minutes to apply settings and
group policy settings don't get applied/ take effect?
What can I do to speed this up?

Most common cause of exactly the behaviors you
have described is incorrect DNS support. Either
your machines are allowed to use incorrect DNS
servers, or your AD supporting DNS zone records
are not healthy.
