You can format your drive during the XP installation.
Place your XP disc in your CDrom and allow the system to
boot from CD. You may have to go into CMOS and setup up
the configuration to boot from CDROM first. Normally
when your computer starts booting you'll see a brief
message to press F2 or the Del key to enter in Bios. Do
this and look for boot options and configure bios to boot
from CDROM first.
Boot from the XP disc and start the installtion process
(remember back up any important files before you start
the install). During the inital setup you will come
across a section where it will identify your hard drives
and ask you where you want XP to install. Find the drive
you want. On this screen as well you will see options to
delete the current partion. You normally have to hit
an "L" to do this. Delete the current partition and then
the next screen will be to create a new partition and
then the new partition will be formated. This will wipe
out everything on the drive and you will have a new
install of XP.
Good luck.
