on windows 98 first edition i log onto a website and if i
then open any new windows of that site i do not have to
log on again no matter how many i open. only after
restarting the computer do i have to log on again. however
with xp i have to log in every time i open a new browser
window for that page causing me much grief. please make it
stop.

Is it possible the site has added an expiration limit? When you leave the
secured areas the site may be setup to drop the logon. Considered a basic
security measure at many sites.

If this is a site where the logon should persist, doublecheck your settings
for cookies and cache. Allow cookies from the site in question. Don't be
too aggressive with clearing the browser cache. For example, there is a
setting in IE that clears the cache whenever all instances of the browser
ar closed (Internet Options> Advanced). Some of the "web washer" and
tweaking type of programs have settings for this too.
