I know I have a cheap powersupply, but how can I find out how many watts my
powersupply has without taking the computer apart. Is there a free program
somewhere that will let me do this or does XP provide this somewhere?

You might be able to see a label on the power supply, but
likely you will need to remove a side panel and look at the
label.

As far as I know, there are no "programs" that identify the
make or model or rating of power supplies.

Greetings --

The manual that came with the PC should contain this information
in its Specifications section. Otherwise, you'll probably need to
open the PC and look.

Sorry, but you'll have to open up the PC. The information is printed on the
side of the power supply. There is no way to obtain that information via
software.

Really nice of all you who have replied. Thanks alot. I guess I should have
mentioned that my computer was not bought from a store already assembled, so
there is no manual. In fact, the only manual I have is the one that came
with the motherboard. I am afraid there is no label on the power supply
that can be seen. I sure hope the label isn't on the bottom of the power
supply, which is why I did not really want to take the computer apart.

Any way, I will post a follow up question in another thread with this
subject: Will low wattage powersupply cause device to fail?
