I get a popup pointing to the "All Programs" button in
the XP Start menu announcing that there are "new
programs". How do I acknowledge this so that the popup
will go away? It covers up the "Turn Off Computer"
button and is a nuisance.

Locate the new program in the 'All programs' list and run it - this will
delete the message

Hi Larry,
Right-click the taskbar, choose properties. Go to the Start Menu tab, click
customize. There is an option you can disable to display notifications about
newly installed software.
