View Full Version : 32 or 64 Bit version?

I'm trying to download the "worm" patch (is it really
necessary for XP Professional?) and need to know if I'm
running XP 32 bit or 64 bit. I believe it's 64 bit, but
how do I find out for sure?

Winver shows the following:

Version 5.1, Build 2600, Windows XP Professional

Thanks,
Jessica

Winver would say somewhere in it "64 bit" if you were running the 64 bit
one.

Also, why do you think it's the 64 bit one? Did you pay 3000+ dollars for
your computer?

Jessica --

You have the 32-bit version of Windows XP. The 64-bit version is
only commercially available for very expensive, high-end Itanium =
processors.

If you have to ask,it is 32bit.

You would know if you had the 64bit version (which only runs on IA64 ie
Itanium and Itanium II processors) by the light feeling in your wallet.

If you download the wrong version you will get a "not a valid win32
application" message when you try to run the patch.
