On a clean installation of Windows XP Pro you are asked to
provide a username and password. The system by default
will then give that user Administrator privledges. The
problem I found with this is that I assumed that then the
adminsitrator password would also be the same as that
users account since it never prompted for an administrator
password. I then reduced the user's which I created during
the set up process to a power user status. My question is
this: In effort to restore the user to an administrative
status I tried to log in using the administrator account
however I have no idea what the password is since I was
never prompted for one during installation. And by
changing the status to a power user I lost the ability to
even reset passwords from the management console.....Help!!
I dont want to have to reinstall. I dont have a back up
copy of the system state data either, not to mention I
cannot do a system restore as a power user anyway.
Thanks.
