View Full Version : Unwanted Application Continually Attaches Itself

Periodically, Spybot application downloads itself and loads into my system
and the system tray.
I remove it by closing the application via the system tray and then removing
the application using the control panel, add/remove programs.

Yet a few days later this application once again is loaded.

How do I permanently remove it and stop further loading?

TIA, Dave Harding

Dave,

The following link should provide the solution for uninstalling SpyBot;

Dave,

Ignore my first post, wrong link. The following site was the one I intended

Thanks, I have done as suggested, now we will see if it returns.

Thanks, Dave

Didn't work permanently, Spyblast continually reattaches itself to my
computer.

I would guess SpyBot Search&Destroy www.security.kolla.de
would stop SpyBlast.

I would hope so, Jim. AdAware may catch it too. According to doxdesk.com
the Spyblast nasty is removable by deleting it from Windows\Downloaded
Programs but there are some registry keys that need to be addressed as
well.

The original complaint was about "spybot" reattaching itself over and over.
That doesn't make sense to me if it refers to SpyBot: Search and Destroy.

Hopefully this confusion in names doesn't extend to this worm (or one of
its variants):
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.spybot.worm.html

If that's the case, it looks like a good up to date antivirus program is
needed as well.
