Can I write a data file to my cdr directly using Windows
xp home? I am running windows 98 on a presario desktop. I
have the hardware but no cd burner software on my system.
I plan to upgrade to xp home. Does Windows xp home contain
a cdr driver? Will I just be able to drag and drop a file
to my cdr icon or do I need to still get CD burning
software?
Thanks in advance

Good information on CD Burning in XP can be found here
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/cdr_info.htm I strongly urge you to visit
Alex Nichols' site which is the first link on that page.
XP has limited burning capabilities. Many people find that it works well
enough for basic tasks but if you want more options you would do well to
purchase a decent third party program like Nero 6 from www.nero.com, Easy CD
Creator 6 from www.roxio.com or RecordNow Max from www.stompinc.com There
are a few freeware alternatives too with links at my site .
