XP is slow when logging into NT4.0 server

I am an administrator using NT4.0 server. I have XP Pro
machines that take more than ten minutes to log onto the
network. I have tried putting the ip address of the
server into the hosts file to see if it was a DNS issue.
this had no effect on the logon. if anyone has a idea of
what this could be please send your input.

Has the XP machine joined the domain? Or is your NT server setup as a
standalone server and not part of a domain? Because I have 15 xp clients on
my NT4 server sp6b and have no problems. So I'm thinking its a setup
problem somewhere but need more info on your current setup.
