hibernation loop

my Windows XP hibernate feature was enabled with a "5
second wait before hibernate" time. I can't even get to a
full system boot-up without beginning the hibernation
shutdown. can this be aborted before a sign on screen? I
can't find out how to boot my system, so I can even get
to control panel power options to reset to correct value
or disable.

When rebooting, press F8 to get to advanced options, and boot into safe
mode. You can change setting from there..
