Can't logon with password after creating local group

I attempted to create a local users group among my home
computers. After being prompted to restart, I can no
longer access my ThinkPad via my regular password. How do
I reset the original configuration that worked?

I tried doing so in F8, but to no avail.

Adding a group wouldn't affect your "regular password". You must have done
something else as well.
