View Full Version : DVD & CD drive Shortcuts not working

Whenever I right click either my DVD drive or CD-RW drive to eject the tray
(regardless of whether there's a CD in there or not), it starts a search for
a program to open it with. I have deleted these shortcuts and created new
ones, to no avail. I have used TweakUI to repair desktop Icons, to no avail.
LOL. I have gone into the BIOS to ensure the drives are being detected
properly (they are). If using "My Computer" and ejecting the trays from
there, it works properly. Any thoughts as to what I can do?

The behavior is a side effect from one of the Windows Updates. Microsoft is
aware of the problem and working on a remedy. Until that time, the desktop
shortcuts for CD and DVD drives will not work as expected.
