View Full Version : Workstation not performing a DCHP

I have several workstations running XP Home all set to get their address
using DHCP. My XP Pro computer is set as the one having the shared modem so
I assume that is the DHCP server as well. (What else would be the DCHP
server?). All but one workstation works fine. The one that doesn't work does
work when I set the IP address to a static value but even then it's DNS
doesn't seem to work for servers outside the workgroup
All computers us workgroups, not domain and all are in the same workgroup.
I have tried "netsh interface ip reset test.txt" and then rebooted but that
did not solve the problem.

Are you using internet connection sharing or a router for the DHCP side of
things? Sounds like youre out of IP addresses.

I am using ICS. I have router but I have disabled its DHCP feature to avoid
conflict. Hard to believe I would be out of IP addresses after only 2. What
tool can I use on the ICS DHCP "server" to change its setting or check its
status?
