File search insists on re installation

This is really frustrating. Whenever I initiate a search
for files, the computer asks me to insert the Office 2000
disk. It thne install the Search function from the disk
(takes about a minute) and then I can conduct the search.
However, this installation does not persist. If I want to
conduct a new search, the whole story repeats and I have
to insert the disk again and re install.

Does anyone know why?

Usually this is corrected by doing a full Repair Reinstall of Office.
