I have e-machines T2625 running WindowsXP.I cannot turn
off the computer with either the button or using the
mouse. All it does is reboot. The only way to turn it off is
to unplug it.emachines tech support was no help. The system
is only 2 weeks old.Thanks

Kelly has a downloadable tweak at line 76, left, "power off or reboot
after shutdown" (two separate tweaks, actually). Her website is a fine
XP resource.
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Although I'd try Kelly first, XP has a startup\shutdown
troubleshooter, which can be located via the Find index,
troubleshooters as the topic. One thing mentioned is that some
anti-virus programs can interfere with shutting down because they have
tasks to perform (which can be changed).
