Directory lookup is Sloooow after antivirus patch

Why does my XP do dir list so slow after isntall
antivirus?

Since applying the blast patch whenever I hit the
directory pick box arrow it takes many MINUTES to return
the usual list. Nothing else has changed. I even
disconnected most mapped drives and no change.

Any ideas?
