Can I delete the uninstall file for service pack1.
Service pack installed some time ago and no problems.
When I try to delete it I get a warning that some
programs my not work correctly if it is deleted. Any
advice would be appreciated.

Do not uninstall SP1. If you do, you'll uninstall SP1.

Yes you may.
Delete the save information first. Once that's done, go into Add/Remove
programs and select the "uninstall SP1" option. You'll get an error message
with the option to remove the entry from Add/Remove programs which you can
accept.

Greetings --
Yes, if you're confident that you'll not want to uninstall the
service pack in the future, you may safely delete the uninstall
folder. The same allies to the uninstall folders created by any
subsequent hot fixes. You can then open the Control Panel's
Add/Remove Programs applet and select each of the pertinent removal
choices, in turn. You should get an error message stating that the
removal files are missing, and asking if you'd like to delete the menu
option.
