thirdparty anti virus firewall protec. compatability with XP builtin firewall

Is it wise to have both a third party (Trend Micro) and
the XP builtin firewall protection running at the same
time? I was told by Trend Micro that one should have one
or the other working but not both.

To avoid conflicts, one should only use one firewall program.
Disable XP's firewall if using a third-party firewall program.
